Excursions in Winter, Tyrol

You thought that in Waidring “all” you can do is ski – you were wrong!

In the surrounding area there are numerous sights to visit and excursion to make for all age groups. Spice up your holiday with cultural highlights and experience authentic local customs. Alternatively party the nights away in good old Tyrolean manner in the many bars and clubs in Waidring. Spend your holiday at the Tiroler Adler just the way you want to; with non-stop fun and excitement or with restful relaxation in tune with nature.

You’ll soon be convinced that the Pillersee Valley and the surrounding area has much more to offer than “just” winter sports and beautiful landscapes.

Aprés Ski

Party atmosphere "open end"

In the wintersport resort of Waidring there’s no lacking of après ski. In the Steinplatte ski area you’ll find numerous mountain hut restaurants and Alpine inns that you can ski to and where you can stop off for a glass of mulled wine, a snack or for a short break in a deckchair in the sun.

Once you get back to valley the „in“ place to go is Zardinis, the resort’s top disco or the rustic Hausberalm Inn where you can unwind and have a cosy chat and a drink after a hard day on the slopes. The smooth transition between après ski and nightlife in Waidring is unavoidable, because as the moon rises over the Steinberg mountain, so does the atmosphere in the bars and discos in Waidring.

If you’re more the quiet type, then Barbara & Reinahrd’s café- bar “Emozion” or the “Wine Cellar” at the Gasthof Post are just the right sort of place for you. Here you’ll enjoy holiday atmosphere of a different kind.

Kitzbühel

Home of the stars and the most important Alpine event of the year

The dreamy medieval town of Kitzbühel, just 25 kilometres from the Tiroler Adler, is not only famous for its legendary Hahnenkamm Race. It is also home to the stars and a visit to Kitzbühel is like stepping into an entirely different world of glamour and luxury. Stroll through the historic Old Town or visit the Casino.

Who knows, you may well bump into one of the many stars who live or spend their winter break here. It doesn’t matter though who you drink your mulled wine with, a visit to Kitzbühel is always an amazing experience.

Kitzbühel is not only loved by the stars and celebrities in the winter.

The Vintage Alpine Ralley, „Alpenrallye“ that takes place here in the summer has also become legendary and boasts a number of famous participants like Hans Joachim Stuck and David Coulthard. This is a great opportunity to take a look at the many vintage cars in a fantastic mountain setting in a truly magical town. Don’t miss the “Alpenrallye” and the annual Harley Davidson Meeting!

The Mozart City Salzburg

A jewel in the heart of Austria

The birth town of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is always worth visiting. Just 45 minutes by car from the mountain village of Waidring a whole host of historic and world famous cultural sights await you.

Visit the famous Christmas Market in Salzburg and enjoy the atmosphere of Austrian Advent with hot roasted chestnuts and warming mulled wine. Salzburg’s romantic Old Town is perfect to do just that in. Amidst a wealth of historic buildings modern architectural projects, such as Red Bull’s Hanger 7 with its integrated airplane museum, bring a new and exciting aspect to Salzburg’s cultural landscape. Experience state of the art construction engineering combined with the historic culture in a unique and rare symbiosis.

Hohensalzburg Fortress

The local ruler Gebhard I. von Helffenstein (1010 - 1088) began building the fortress in the year 1077 during the investiture conflict between the German Kaiser Heinrich IV and  Pope Gregor. In 1085 Archbishop Gebhard was banished into exile and the planned fortress was finally completed under the rule of his successors. The fortress consists of the original Romanesque palace and the tower which once housed the living quarters and still forms the core of the castle today. Later a church and an outbuilding were added.

Enjoy an exciting excursion and experience the history of one of Austria’s most beautiful fortresses.
