After all, your holiday should be an unforgettable experience – bad weather won’t dampen your enjoyment!
Salt mines in Berchtesgaden
The miner’s greeting of “Glück auf” (good luck!) has been used to greet visitors to the mine in Berchtesgaden for almost 500 year. When Berchtesgaden still belonged to the independent principality “Fürstpropstei” only carefully selected guests were allowed to view the mine. Today anybody who is interested in the origins of salt and how salt, or white gold as it is known as in the region, is mined is welcome to join one of the guided tours. The fascinating and exciting underground world provides an adventurous day out for young and old.
Silver Mine in Schwaz
Water wheel and silver mine in Schwaz. To make the exhibition mine even more attractive to the public the mines have been recently renovated: A fully functional 10-metre high water wheel and a rock-fall with water cascade have been added. Your guide the “Hutmann” gives you a personal and informative insight into what life was like for those who worked here and will take you on a journey back in time to when the Earth was still flat.
Exhibition Mine Leogang
Leogang is considered one of the oldes mining sites in the County of Salzburg. In Schwarzleo Valley you will find signs of mining activity from prehistoric times. A trail that you can continue to follow in the medieval mining tunnels, which have now been re-opened to the public.
