Archery in Tyrol
What makes archery so special?
Archery is a precision sport and has been an Olympic discipline since 1972. Equipped with a bow and arrow, the goal is usually to hit a target as accurately as possible. Variations of archery, such as 3D archery, roving, flight shooting, and Zen archery, are gaining increasing popularity. Archery is even used in therapeutic settings. But most importantly: it's a lot of fun!
Excitement, ready, go!
Walking in the footsteps of Robin Hood
You might find that after your first attempt, you're left with a serious case of sore neck muscles rather than a playful grin. But becoming aware of body parts you never knew existed is quite wonderful. And it takes brains! Maximum concentration, a good eye, and even better judgment make getting started in this exciting hobby much easier. In Oberweißbach and the Strub district of Waidring, you can claim two archery ranges as your hunting grounds. The Waidring Archery Club, founded in 1991, boasts one of the most beautiful hunting archery courses in Europe, thanks to its stunning location and scenery. Its 5 hectares offer ample space to put your skills to the test. The Schreder family, and especially Florian Schreder, are passionate about this physically and mentally demanding sport. At the Oberweißbach archery course, not far from the hotel, you can learn the basics of archery in a playful way and then explore a course or two with Florian. Of course, he has the best course tips for your next challenge ready for you; it's not for nothing that you can easily reach over 30 different archery ranges within a 60-kilometer radius, where boredom certainly won't set in so quickly.
