The natural way to swim on hot summer days. In Waidring the summer days can get quite hot. But cooling down is no problem! The temperate swimming lake in Waidring, just 5 minutes’ walk from the Hotel Tiroler Adler provides just the right sort of cooling recreation for the whole family. For nature lovers we do have, of course, something very special to offer! Take a dip and cool down in Lake Pillersee, which has an average water temperature of 16°C. This is enjoying nature to the full. If you don’t want to get quite so wet, then try the Kneipp Garden in Waidring. The Kneipp philosophy has its roots in the healing power of water. Mountain spring water appears out of the rocks and in the garden you have the opportunity to refresh body and mind with a mountain spring foot bath.
Abseiling, climbing, jumping, sliding, swimming and even diving are all part of your exciting journey through the gorge. Naturally appropriate equipment and sportswear are provided. This adventure sport became popular in Spain and the South of France about 20 years ago. The sport has become increasingly popular here in the Northern Alps over the last few years. In addition to the adventure aspect of this sport, the close encounter with the natural beauty of the area, team-spirit and mutual trust also play an important role. Within a 20 km radius of the hotel you will find 4 different out door activity centres. Guests staying at our hotel receive preferential treatment and special rates at the Motion Outdoor Centre in Lofer. Ask at the hotel for further details. We are happy to organise your white-water excursion, all you need to do is enjoy the effects of the adrenalin kick and our staff and Motion will sort out the rest.
The kingdom of the Golden Eagle. There has been some much written and sung about the Edelweiss. The craggy rock faces of the Steinplatte Massif provide an ideal habitat for these protected Alpine flowers and the perfect practice ground for climbers. At the outset we would recommend the fixed rope route. For experienced climbers the Climbing Paradise Steinplatte has numerous routes of varying difficulty. Having conquered the steep rock walls of the Steinplatte you will have a bird’s eye view of the Pillersee Valley and the mountain village of Waidring in the kingdom of the Golden Eagle.
A Finnish phenomena catches on. Even in the valleys of the Alps the Finnish trend-sport Nordic walking has caught on. In the Pillersee Valley Holiday Region you’ll experience a slightly different sort of Nordic Walking. Throughout the entire Holiday Region the various running routes are also designated Nordic walking routes. A special Nordic walking course has been set up just 50 metres from the hotel so that beginners can learn the techniques of this seemingly straightforward sport properly. Explore the hidden corners of the Pillersee Valley and improve your fitness at the same time. This is also something you can discover at the Tiroler Adler!
Discovering the valley on horseback. You want to explore the Pillersee Valley on horseback, experience the freedom of a day in the saddle? No problem! In the mountain village of Waidring in Austria’s “Wild West” there are several farms offering riding lessons. At the Fischerbauer Farm you have the opportunity to ride thoroughbred Arabian horses and spend time getting to know these wonderful creatures. On the Rainbow Ranch you can try something completely different – riding Western style, Yiha! This and lots, lots more can be seen and discovered in Waidring and in the Pillersee Valley!
